How does an office membership differ from a coworking membership?

Private office memberships are similar to our coworking memberships in a number of ways, and include many of the same great benefits, but in a dedicated, secure space all your own.

Can I use the coworking area if I have a private office?

Absolutely! One of the great benefits of the private office membership is that you get the best of both worlds – privacy and security of having your own 100% dedicated space AND use of the collaboration-friendly coworking space when you need it.

How does office membership work?

Private office memberships provide you full-time, 24/7 access to your space, the coworking “hot desk” area, shared kitchen/break room and all other common spaces. Membership bills monthly and require a minimum 6-month commitment.

What's included with my membership?

Every private office member gets: a furnished office (including a desk, chair and cabinet per person), 24/7 access, fast & secure daily WiFi access, complimentary locally-sourced gourmet coffee & tea, filtered water, free car & bicycle parking, member portal & mobile app access, use of shared kitchen and other common spaces, and a 10% discount on all meeting room bookings. Depending on your membership level, you may also receive meeting room privileges, print/scan/copy privileges, access to community events and meet-ups, and more.

Can I buy a day office pass if I'm not sure I'm ready for a membership?

Day office passes are subject to availability. If available, they can be purchased at https://members.sterlingspaces.ca/signup.

Do my guests also require a membership?

Office members can bring a guest in with no additional cost as long as they work in your office. Should they want to work in the coworking space, you may purchase a day pass for them through our member portal.

Can I bring my own furniture and/or decor?

You are welcome to make your private office space your own with furniture and appropriate decor for a business environment. Repair fees may apply, where required, if there is significant damage to the space upon termination of your agreement.

Can I bring my pet with me?

As much as we love animals, Sterling Spaces is a pet-free environment.

Can I leave my things in my private office?

Absolutely. Private office spaces are secure and often lockable for safe storage of your belongings. Lockers can also be added to your membership, if you require a little more space.

We do recommend all members carry their own insurance coverage in case of any unforeseen damage or loss.

Can I access the space outside of regular business hours?

Yes. Private office members enjoy 24/7 access.

How does billing work?

Memberships bill on a monthly basis, in advance. When you sign up, you will be charged for your first month’s membership fee, a services deposit (equal to one month’s membership fee) and applicable setup fees. Subsequent billings will include your monthly membership amount, plus any additional costs incurred in the previous period (meeting room bookings, printing, etc.)

Are there any long-term commitments?

We want to make your life as easy as possible, so private office spaces typically require commitments as low as 6 months in duration.

What will I be charged at sign-up?

When you sign up, we will collect your first month’s membership fee in advance, a services deposit (equal to one month’s membership fee), applicable setup fees and HST where applicable.

Subsequent monthly invoices will include your membership amount, plus any additional costs incurred in the previous period (i.e. for meeting room bookings, printing, etc.), plus HST where applicable.

What is the services deposit for?

Similar to a security deposit, the services deposit is held on your account to cover any repairs or unpaid membership fees at the end of your membership. Provided your account is in good standing at the time of cancellation, the services deposit will be returned to you within 60 days of the cancellation date.

Can I use your address as my work or business address?

Yes. As a private office member, use of our mailing address (with your suite number indicated) and our premium mail handling services are included.

Can I bring food or drinks into the coworking space?

All members are more than welcome to bring their lunch each day. Our shared kitchen/lunchroom facilities include a refrigerator, freezer, dishwasher, microwave and hot water dispenser, plus dishware, drinking glasses, coffee/tea mugs and utensils for members to use.

In order to maintain a clean and sanitary work environment, we ask that coworking members use the lunchroom for their meals.
